Robert (Bob) Sallis, MD, FAAFP, FACSM is the Symposium Chairman and responsible for content and the selection of all faculty.
Dr. Sallis is a family medicine and sports medicine physician practicing as a Partner Emeritus Physician at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana, California. He previously served as Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program. He is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at both the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine and the University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Sallis served for many years as the head team physician at Pomona College, in Claremont, CA. He is also the Chief Medical Officer for the Los Angeles Football Club (Major League Soccer – MLS) and the Lead Primary Care Team Physician for the Los Angeles Clippers.
Dr. Sallis lectures and publishes extensively on sports medicine topics. He has been a spokesperson for ACSM and frequently provides his expertise and commentary on sports and health news and issues. Among his professional awards, he received the 2008 Community Leadership Award from the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the 2009 Leonardo da Vinci award for international leadership in sports medicine from the Italian Federation of Sports Medicine (FMSI) and the 2011 Citation Award from the American College of Sports Medicine.
