Each year, we extend a special invitation to a distinguished Legend of Ironman to present at the symposium, enriching the experience for all attendees with their invaluable insights. For the 2026 event, we are privileged to welcome Heather Fuhr and Roch Frey.
Heather Fuhr and Roch Frey are two of the most iconic and influential figures in the history of Ironman Triathlon, each embodying excellence, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to the sport.
Heather Fuhr rose to international prominence with her unforgettable victory at the 1997 Ironman World Championship in Kona, where she overcame a significant deficit during the marathon to claim one of the most dramatic wins in Ironman history. Over her distinguished career, Fuhr amassed numerous Ironman titles and podium finishes and was deservedly inducted into the Ironman Hall of Fame in 2015, cementing her legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats. Beyond racing, she has dedicated herself to athlete development through coaching, mentoring, and leadership roles within the triathlon community, helping shape future generations of endurance athletes.
Roch Frey is widely regarded as one of the architects of modern triathlon. A former elite athlete himself with 35 years of experience coaching endurance athletes, Frey played a pivotal role in the growth and global expansion of Ironman as a founding executive of the World Triathlon Corporation. His visionary leadership helped transform Ironman from a niche endurance event into a worldwide phenomenon, setting the standard for long-distance triathlon competition. Throughout his career, Frey has remained deeply connected to the athlete experience, advocating for innovation, safety, and excellence in endurance sports. On a humerus note, he, along with Paul Huddle started the famed Ironman Underpants Run.
Together, Fuhr and Frey represent both the competitive spirit and organizational vision that have defined Ironman, making them fitting Legends Speakers for the 2026 Ironman Sports Medicine Conference.
